Background
The Dr. Carl Lee Davis Graduate Student Research Award in Dairy Nutrition was established in 2019 and is named for Dr. Carl Lee Davis, a dairy science professor at the University of Illinois from 1959 - 1985. During his tenure, Dr. Davis also served on the editorial board of the Journal of Dairy Science and reviewed more than 200 scientific papers. Professor Davis formulated a product that Milk Specialty Systems manufactured and sold to correct water imbalance in calves. Dr. Davis received numerous awards including the American Feed Manufacturers top researcher, the University of Illinois Paul A. Funk and Borden awards.
Selection Considerations
Students must have completed their master’s degree or have completed at least two full years of full-time graduate study in dairy nutrition and must be currently registered. Preference in selection will be given to students who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of scientific knowledge and research in the field of dairy nutrition.
Deadlines: The application deadline is February 15 of each year.

- An up-to-date curriculum vitae for the nominee, including peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, other publications, awards, and research grants.
- A letter of application not to exceed 2 pages outlining the significance of your completed and proposed research and highlighting your experience in research, teaching and extension.
Recipients will be chosen by a panel of faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences.
